Odisha CM invited to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th martyrdom commemorations

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Food and Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak on Thursday met Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in Bhubaneswar to extend a formal invitation to the Punjab government’s commemorative events marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.
During the meeting, the ministers highlighted the Ninth Sikh Guru’s supreme sacrifice to defend religious freedom and human rights, noting his reverence as “Hind Di Chadar.” They said the observances are designed as a national tribute, drawing participation from across states to amplify the Guru’s universal message of courage, tolerance, and justice.
Cheema and Kataruchak handed over a formal invitation detailing a series of large-scale programmes to be held at historically significant locations, with a focus on the Guru’s life, teachings, and unparalleled martyrdom through devotional gatherings, interfaith outreach, and heritage-led public engagement.
Emphasizing inter-state collaboration, the ministers said broader participation would strengthen national unity around the Guru’s ideals. Chief Minister Majhi conveyed respect for the historic occasion, as the ministers also presented a traditional memento and literature outlining the commemoration’s historical context.
