Charan Suhawa Yatra carrying historic ‘Joda Sahib’ departs from Delhi for Takht Sri Patna Sahib
New Delhi, October 23, 2025:
The historic ‘Charan Suhawa’ Guru Charan Yatra, bearing the sacred footwear (Joda Sahib) associated with Mata Sahib Kaur Ji and the Tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, set off today as a nagar kirtan from Gurdwara Moti Bagh Sahib in Delhi to Takht Sri Harmandir Ji, Patna Sahib. Announcing the departure, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Harmeet Singh Kalka said the holy relics will be enshrined at Takht Patna Sahib upon arrival, with large numbers of devotees joining the spiritual procession.
According to DSGMC, the Yatra will traverse key parts of the National Capital before halting overnight in Faridabad. The Delhi leg will pass through RK Puram, Safdarjung, Green Park, Malviya Nagar, Greater Kailash-2, Kalkaji, Govindpuri, and Badarpur, as the Sangat offers prayers and hymns at designated stops along the route.
On the eve of the departure, DSGMC organised a special Gurmat Samagam at Gurdwara Moti Bagh Sahib, where the Sangat had darshan of the historic footwear ahead of the Yatra. A large gathering attended the ceremony, which featured kirtan and ardas in reverence to the sacred relics.
Several dignitaries were honoured at the occasion, including Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta, Delhi Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Member of Parliament Bansuri Swaraj, among others. The organisers said the honours reflected the shared commitment to preserving Sikh heritage and supporting the Yatra as it journeys toward the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
DSGMC president Harmeet Singh Kalka said the ‘Charan Suhawa’ Yatra is both a devotional pilgrimage and a moment of collective Sikh remembrance, uniting communities along the route in prayer and service. He added that gurdwaras and local committees are coordinating logistics and langar arrangements to facilitate the participation of devotees as the procession proceeds toward Takht Sri Patna Sahib.
