FIH Junior Hockey World Cup trophy tour reaches Chandigarh
Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh Unveils the Trophy at Hyatt Hotel

Chandigarh, November 9, 2025: The FIH Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup Trophy reached Chandigarh on Sunday as part of its nationwide tour. The prestigious trophy was unveiled by Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh during a ceremony held at Hotel Hyatt, Sector 17.
Welcoming the dignitaries and players, Karan Gilhotra, President of Hockey Chandigarh, said the trophy tour aims to build excitement and awareness for the upcoming World Cup, scheduled from November 28 to December 10 in Chennai and Madurai.
“This is not just a trophy journey but an effort to inspire our young players and hockey enthusiasts,” Gilhotra remarked. “We want the youth to develop passion for the sport, sharpen their skills, and make India proud on the global stage.”
In his address, Governor Ghosh lauded hockey as a game that embodies India’s spirit of unity and discipline.
“Hockey is deeply connected to the soul of India. The FIH Junior Hockey World Cup Trophy Tour will foster patriotism and sporting spirit among the youth,” he said. “I am confident our team will once again make the tricolour soar high.”
Anil Vohra, Vice-President of Hockey Chandigarh, informed that the trophy will travel through 20 cities across India before returning to Tamil Nadu, giving fans nationwide a chance to witness it up close.
The event was attended by several hockey players, coaches, sports officials, and young athletes, who extended their best wishes to Team India.
Senior Vice-President PJ Singh expressed gratitude to attendees and said,
“It is a proud moment for Chandigarh to host the FIH Junior Hockey World Cup Trophy. This visit reinforces our mission to take young players to the international stage.”
Concluding the ceremony, Karan Gilhotra reiterated Hockey Chandigarh’s commitment to promoting the sport:
