Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana announces Election Schedule for 2025–2026 term

Chandigarh, November 11, 2025: The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana has officially released its election programme for the 2025–2026 term, outlining key dates and procedures for the upcoming polls.
According to the notification, the election process will commence on November 10, 2025. The Preliminary Electoral Roll will be published on December 10, 2025, followed by the Final Electoral Roll on January 10, 2026.
The official election schedule will be announced on January 30, 2026 (Friday). Filing of nomination papers will take place at Law Bhawan, Sector 37-A, Chandigarh, on February 10 and 11, 2026, between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
The scrutiny of nomination papers by the Returning Officer will be conducted on February 12, 2026 at 12 noon, while the withdrawal of nominations can be made on February 13 and 14, 2026.
Polling for advocates enrolled in District Courts and the Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, is scheduled for March 17, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Voting across all districts and sub-divisional headquarters in Punjab and Haryana will take place the following day, March 18, 2026, during the same hours.
The schedule has been issued in compliance with the Supreme Court’s order dated October 31, 2025, in M. Vardhan vs. Union of India & Others, and was announced by Justice Jaishree Thakur (Retd.), Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, who will serve as the Returning Officer.
