Chandigarh, November 18, 2025:The Punjab government unveiled an ambitious industrial reform agenda, sector-focused policy framework, and major infrastructure expansion plans at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region’s Regional Council Meeting held in Amritsar.
The initiatives aim to accelerate Punjab’s investment growth and position the state as a top destination for industry, tourism, and logistics.
Welcoming Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, CII Northern Region Chairperson Anjali Singh said that Punjab is rapidly emerging as a preferred hub for high-quality investments. She cited SUJAN’s ₹150 crore investment in the state’s hospitality sector—beginning with Amritsar—as a strong testament to the state’s improving business climate.
“This significant commitment elevates Punjab’s premium tourism ecosystem and reflects rising investor confidence. With progressive policies and ease-of-doing-business measures, tourism-led investments are expected to grow further,” she added.
Singh also advised the government to intensify global marketing of land banks, expand cold chain infrastructure to support agriculture and perishables, promote heritage sites for tourism, and consider appointing a state brand ambassador to showcase Punjab's potential nationally and internationally.
Addressing industry leaders, Minister Sanjeev Arora, who heads Industry & Commerce, Investment Promotion, Power and NRI Affairs, reaffirmed the government’s resolve to create a strong, future-ready industrial landscape.
“Punjab is progressing with a clear reform roadmap. Twenty-four sectoral committees have been formed, and a comprehensive Master Industrial Policy, including exclusive policies for all major sectors, will soon be launched to offer long-term clarity to investors,” he said.
The Minister highlighted that Punjab is preparing a detailed power planning roadmap up to 2035, covering future energy needs through a balanced mix of thermal and renewable sources.
To boost industrial infrastructure, he announced that land has been finalised for two new exhibition centres in Mohali and Ludhiana, with tendering already initiated. A third centre is planned for Amritsar, where land identification is currently underway.
On the ease of doing business, Arora shared that under the Right to Business Act, all green-category and several orange-category industries will receive approvals within five days, significantly enhancing investor convenience.
Emphasising improved logistics, he said Punjab now has 10 ICDs, two freight container stations, two international airports, and an operational airport in Adampur, while the upcoming Halwara airport will further strengthen connectivity and industrial access.
