Punjab Govt takes strict action against striking employees of transport Department, President among 6 addhoc emplyees terminated

Chandigarh, November 29, 2025: The Punjab Government has taken strict action against the ongoing strike by Punjab Roadways employees, suspending Bikramjit Singh, President of PUNBUS Depot-1, for allegedly leading an unauthorized sit-in that disrupted state transport operations.There is report that five employees leader of Mukatsar depot of PRTC also dismissed from service but no official confirmation till filing of this report in the evening.
According to an official communication from the Transport Department, Bikramjit Singh (CTC-06) participated in a strike on November 28, 2025, which affected several major routes, including Mukerian–Jalandhar, Jalandhar–Amritsar, and Jalandhar–Pathankot. The disruption resulted in 380 km of missed bus operations, causing significant inconvenience to daily commuters dependent on PUNBUS services.
The department also reported a financial loss of ₹11,939 to the state exchequer due to the strike. Citing violation of service norms and dereliction of duty, the government ordered the immediate suspension of Bikramjit Singh from his post at Depot-1.
