Chandigarh, December 7, 2025:
In the case related to the disappearance of 328 sacred saroops between 2015 and 2018, the police have taken major action. An FIR has been registered under sections relating to sacrilege and other IPC provisions against the then office-bearers of the Shiromani Committee, including the then Secretary Roop Singh. A total of 16 individuals ( mostly Employees of SGPC) have been named in the FIR. The case has been registered under various IPC sections — 295, 295-A, 409, 465, and 120-B. This raises the question of how IPC sections can still be applied at this stage.
Bhai Baldev Singh Wadala of the Sikh Sadbhavna Dal, who has been leading a protest on this issue, said that the FIR copy regarding the alleged missing saroops was brought by Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan.
The Sadbhavna Dal has been running a continuous protest in Amritsar for a long time on this matter. However, the SGPC argues that the action had already been taken regarding allegedly missing saroops. It is noteworthy that the entire case pertains to the period between 2015 and 2018. For investigation, the Secretary of Akal Takht Sahib had constituted a committee. After completing its inquiry, this committee submitted a detailed report to the SGPC on August 23, 2020, based on which punishments according to Sikh Maryada were also awarded by Akal Takht Sahib.
SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly criticized the government, stating that the Punjab Government’s interference in Sikh institutions is unacceptable. He said the participation of government representatives in the protest is pure politics.
Punjab Government’s interference in Sikh institutions unacceptable: Advocate Dhami
Government involvement after implementation of Akal Takht Sahib’s orders is politically motivated

Amritsar, December 7, 2025:
SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has termed the Aam Aadmi Party government’s involvement in leading protests regarding the case of 328 sacred saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as open interference in Sikh institutions. He said that the presence and directions issued by Punjab Government representatives in this old case are entirely politically driven.
Advocate Dhami said that the Punjab Government must stop dreaming of controlling Sikh institutions according to their wishes. He asserted that national (Panthic) institutions belong solely to the Sikh community, and any attempt by the government to interfere will not be tolerated or allowed to succeed.
