Chandigarh, December 16, 2025: Punjab Police on Sunday issued a cyber security alert warning citizens against fraudulent messages being circulated in the name of the RTO and other government authorities.
According to Punjab Police, scammers are sending fake messages containing APK files, which, if downloaded, can install malware on smartphones and allow hackers to gain access to personal data and devices.
The police have strongly advised people not to download or open such files under any circumstances. Citizens who receive such suspicious messages have been urged to immediately block the sender and report the mobile number on the Chakshu Portal of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Punjab Police appealed to the public to remain vigilant and spread awareness to prevent cyber fraud and data theft.
