Chandigarh, December 17, 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday swept the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections across Punjab, with party leaders terming the results a strong endorsement of the Bhagwant Mann-led government’s governance model and people-centric policies.
Addressing a press conference here, AAP Punjab President Aman Arora expressed gratitude to the voters for giving the party a resounding mandate. He said the local body polls held on December 14 were among the most peaceful and transparent elections witnessed in recent times.
“With the results still pouring in, a clear and decisive mandate in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party is visible. This mandate reflects the people’s trust in good governance and honest politics,” Arora said.
He congratulated AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, party leaders, MLAs, candidates and grassroots volunteers, attributing the party’s success to the government’s performance over the past four years and the relentless efforts of volunteers at the ground level.
In the Zila Parishad elections, results for 71 out of 354 zones had been declared at the time of the press conference. AAP emerged victorious in 60 zones, while the Congress won 7 zones. The Shiromani Akali Dal secured 1 zone, Independents 2 zones, and the BJP 1 zone.
“Nearly 85 per cent of the declared Zila Parishad results are in AAP’s favour, clearly reflecting public confidence in our leadership and policies,” Arora said.
Similarly, in the Block Samiti elections, results for 1,275 out of 2,863 blocks had been announced. AAP secured a dominant lead by winning 867 blocks, accounting for around 68 per cent of the declared results. The Congress won 216 blocks, the Shiromani Akali Dal 129 blocks, Independents 63 blocks, and the BJP 20 blocks.
Calling it a one-sided verdict, Arora said that although ballot paper counting is a time-consuming process, the trend unmistakably points towards a strong tilt in favour of AAP across Punjab.
“We placed our four years of work before the people, and they have put their stamp of approval on our governance,” he added.
Thanking the electorate for their overwhelming support, Aman Arora congratulated all the newly elected Zila Parishad and Block Samiti members and reaffirmed the AAP government’s commitment to work with honesty, transparency and dedication to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Punjab.
