Chandigarh, December 19, 2025:The Supreme Court on Friday issued a notice to the Punjab government on the bail plea of senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, who is currently lodged in Nabha Jail. The apex court has directed the state government to file its response within four weeks.
Earlier, Majithia had approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking bail but was denied relief. Following the High Court’s decision, he moved the Supreme Court challenging the rejection of his bail application.
The Supreme Court has scheduled the next hearing in the matter for January 19, 2026. The case will now be heard after the Punjab government submits its reply, following which the court will consider whether to grant bail to Majithia.
