Amritsar (Punjab), December 21, 2025: Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, has strongly condemned the disruption of the Sikh Nagar Kirtan procession in New Zealand, asserting that Sikhs have been legally residing in the country and that the religious procession was conducted in full accordance with the law.
Speaking on the incident, the Acting Jathedar said that the New Zealand government must take strict action against those responsible for creating disturbance and attempting to obstruct a lawful religious procession.

He emphasized that the Sikh community has been an integral and law-abiding part of New Zealand society for decades. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sikhs living in New Zealand stood shoulder to shoulder with the local population, extending humanitarian support and services.
They have continuously contributed to the economic growth and social fabric of the country,” Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj said.
Condemning the incident, the Acting Jathedar stated that such acts of provocation and intimidation are unacceptable in a democratic and multicultural society that prides itself on religious freedom and mutual respect.
