Amritsar (Punjab), December 22, 2025: A dispute between school students escalated into a firing incident on Loharka Road in Amritsar, leaving a Class 11 student injured. Police said five to six rounds were fired during the clash, triggering panic in the area.
According to officials, the conflict initially began inside a local school following a misunderstanding between students of Class 11 and Class 12.
After the incident, efforts were made to resolve the matter through a compromise. Both parties were called for a reconciliation meeting on Sunday evening on Loharka Road, where the students arrived along with their family members.
However, during the discussions, family members from both sides allegedly intervened, leading to a fresh argument. The situation quickly spiralled out of control and culminated in firing.
During the incident, Ashpreet Singh, a Class 11 student, sustained a gunshot injury to his leg and was rushed to a government hospital. His condition is reported to be stable.
The injured student’s family has alleged that the firing was carried out by Harinder Singh, a resident of Nijampur village, who reportedly arrived at the spot with five to six associates and opened fire. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras, which are now being examined by the police.
