Chandigarh, 26 Dec 2025 : Raising its strong objections to the communication by the Hindutva party (BJP) led Union Government to all states and UT’s to organise activities in all schools to mark martyrdom day of Chhote Sahibzade’s as Veer Bal Divas, Dal Khalsa said that Union Government has no right or locus standi to interfere or decide or to fix any nomenclature to Sikh religious and historical events and traditions.
Dal Khalsa hits out at Narendra Modi government for showing stupidity, arrogance and power by not considering, understanding and listening to the Sikh point of view.
Taking head-on with the Indian government, Dal Khalsa leadership said despite objections by Akal Takhat, SGPC and Sikh bodies, the arbitrary decision by Modi dispensation to go ahead and observe Dec 26 as ‘Veer Bal Divas’ amounts to hurting the religious sentiments of Sikhs beside re-establishing the State’s continuous policy in meddling in Sikh religious affairs’.
The organisation was plain and blunt in its thoughts that the state should stay away from religious affairs of Sikhs. “Arbitrary decision by the PMO will further widen wedge between Amritsar and Delhi ,” reads a statement issued by party’s office bearers from Amritsar. .
Raising an objections over the term ‘Baal Veer Diwas’ given to 10th Sikh Master Guru Gobind Singh’s Chhote Sahibzade (younger sons) by Prime Minister Modi and his cabinet, the Dal Khalsa said the State was presenting distorted version of the historical context.
The organisation urged Akal Takhat to take cognisance of the matter and summon those Sikhs, who under the influence or patronage of Modi dispensation were organising function in Delhi and elsewhere under the nomenclature of ‘Veer Bal Divas’.
In a statement to the media, the Dal Khalsa senior leader Kanwar Pal Singh said Sahibzade’s martyrdom day cannot be called ‘Baal Veer Diwas’ as the term wasn’t according to the Sikh philosophy.
Sahibzades have a tall stature in the Sikh religion. They are called ‘Babas’ and not Bal’s (children’s), This term by Modi dispensation belittles their tall stature, said Dal Khalsa’s hard-hitting statement.
As Sikh traditions, beliefs and tenets are unique in nature, any decision in relation to Sikh Gurus and their family members is to be taken by and at the Akal Takht in the light of Sikh philosophy and principles, said party’s secretary for political affairs.
