Transport Deptt conducts vision screening of 50 Punjab Roadways drivers
Ferozepur, January 7, 2026: The current month is being observed as National Road Safety Month, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Government of India and under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ms. Deepshikha Sharma, various awareness and safety activities are being organised jointly by the Transport Department, Traffic Police and Health Department.
As part of these initiatives, an eye check-up camp for drivers was organised at the office of the General Manager, Punjab Roadways. The camp was inaugurated by Regional Transport Authority Amandeep. . Eye specialists from the Health Department, Dr. Dikshit Singla and Dr. Ashu Sharma, conducted vision screening of around 50 Punjab Roadways drivers during the camp.
In addition, the Transport Department, in coordination with the District Traffic Police, installed reflectors on buses to enhance visibility and prevent accidents during foggy conditions. The District Traffic Police, with support from the Transport Department, also installed reflectors on tractor-trolleys and other vehicles at various locations across the city to reduce the risk of accidents caused by poor visibility.
Present on the occasion were GM Roadways Amit Kumar, Works Manager Sukhwinder Singh, District Traffic In-charge Jaswinder Singh, ATO Rakesh Bansal, and Transport Department officials Ankush and Snehdeep.
