Haryana CS Anurag Rastogi admitted to Fortis Mohali, undergoes heart surgery

Mohali (Punjab), January 10, 2026: Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali late Thursday night after his health suddenly deteriorated and he complained of chest pain. Acting swiftly, doctors conducted necessary medical evaluations and decided to perform heart bypass surgery on Friday.
The surgery was carried out under the supervision of renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. P.S. Mahant and was reported to be successful.
According to the hospital authorities, the Chief Secretary is responding well to treatment and is currently under observation in the CTVS Intensive Care Unit. Doctors have indicated that he is likely to be shifted to a private room within the next two days. Medical experts have advised complete rest for at least two months to ensure a full recovery.
Anurag Rastogi, a 1990-batch IAS officer, turned 60 last year and celebrated his birthday on June 30. Although he was scheduled to retire on June 30, 2025, the Haryana government granted him a one-year service extension, allowing him to continue in office until June 30, 2026.
