Hearing on MP Amritpal Singh’s petition challenging NSA postponed
Punjab Government given time to file reply

Chandigarh, January 12, 2026:The Punjab and Haryana High Court today adjourned the hearing on the petition filed by Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh challenging the application of the National Security Act (NSA) against him for the third time. The court has scheduled the next hearing for January 20, 2026.
During today’s proceedings, the Punjab government requested additional time to submit its reply in the matter. The High Court granted the request and adjourned the case to the next scheduled date.
Amritpal Singh has been subjected to the NSA for the third time, which he has challenged in court, terming it unlawful. He is currently lodged in Dibrugarh Jail in Assam.
All eyes are now on the January 20 hearing, when the Punjab government is expected to present its stand on the case.
