Drug Crackdown in Ferozepur: Two held with 18,180 intoxicating capsules and tablets
Ferozepur, January 27, 2026: In a major strike against the drug menace, the Ferozepur Police have arrested two individuals in separate incidents, recovering a massive consignment totalling 18,180 prohibited capsules and tablets.
In the first case, acting on a specific tip-off, the police intercepted a suspect identified as Gagandeep Pal, alias Gagan, while he was travelling toward Ferozepur Cantt on the Zira Road. Upon searching the suspect, officials recovered 6,980 intoxicating capsules and 1,600 tablets.
Given the "commercial quantity" of the recovery, Gagandeep has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police sources stated that the accused was actively involved in the drug trade and was apprehended while attempting to transport the contraband into the city.
In a separate operation, the police arrested one Ashok Kumar following reports of the illegal sale of restricted medicines in the Malsian Kalan area. The raid resulted in the seizure of 9,600 Pregabalin (Prega) capsules.
Ashok Kumar has been booked under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for disobeying orders duly promulgated by a public servant. The arrest follows the Deputy Commissioner’s strict prohibitory orders regarding the regulated sale and storage of such capsules, which are frequently misused as intoxicants.
The Ferozepur Police have reiterated their commitment to breaking the drug supply chain and have urged citizens to continue providing information regarding suspicious activities in their localities.
