FIR lodged against AAP MLA’s daughter-in-law, 7 others on charges of fraud, theft

Chandigarh, February 8, 2026:Ludhiana’s Daba police have registered an FIR against the daughter-in-law of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and seven other persons on charges of fraud, theft, and criminal breach of trust.
The case has been registered on the complaint of Harpreet Singh, husband of MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chheena, under Sections 406, 420, 380, and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In his complaint, Harpreet Singh, a resident of MJK Nagar, village Lohara, Ludhiana, alleged that his daughter-in-law Navneet Kaur had taken his son, Navkiranjit Singh, to Australia on a spouse visa. After his son left India, the accused allegedly stole around 20 tolas of gold and other valuables from an almirah in the complainant’s house.
The complaint further states that when Navkiranjit Singh raised the issue with Navneet Kaur, she allegedly created a dispute and got his name removed from the Permanent Residency (PR) application. The complainant claimed that approximately ₹50 lakh had been spent through Navneet Kaur for sending his son abroad and processing PR, but due to the alleged fraud, his son’s future was jeopardized.
Police said that further investigation is underway and the matter is being probed by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Surinder Kumar.
