To prevent overseas fraud, Admn tightens grip on immigration centres
Ferozepur, May 24, 2026: Acting on the directions of the Punjab Government and Deputy Commissioner Deep Shikha Sharma, SDM Ferozepur carried out surprise inspections at various immigration, travel agent, air ticketing, and IELTS centres operating in the city.
During the inspection drive, several centres including JVT Immigration, Webster Academy, Shri Krishna Consultancy, Wings Global Private Limited, The Fortune Immigration, Haniya International Travels, Aerial Immigration, Acme IELTS Institute, Eton Study Private Limited, and Global Edulink were checked.
Giving details, SDM Abhishek Sharma said that during the inspections, it was found that the Fire NOCs of several centres had expired, while some centres were operating without mandatory documents such as Fire NOC, GST registration, and other essential approvals. It was also observed that certain consultancy centres were running coaching classes in violation of the terms and conditions of their licences.
The inspection further revealed that some centres were carrying out air ticketing business without valid licences. SDM directed all agencies to complete their required documentation and operate strictly according to legal provisions and licence conditions.
He warned that strict legal action would be initiated against centres violating rules and regulations. He added that such inspection drives would continue in future to prevent fraud and safeguard the interests of youths aspiring to go abroad.
Officials from the Police Department and the Fire Safety Wing of the Municipal Council were also present during the inspection drive.
