Chandigarh, April 9: Shiromani Akali Dal today asked the PPP candidate from Bathinda Manpreet Singh Badal to reflect on the anguished outcry of his father Gurdas Singh Badal in which the latter had bemoaned that he was being forced to take decisions against his conscience. In a statement here, the SAD General Secretary, Harcharan Bains described Gurdas Singh Badal\'s statement as \"heart-rending\" and appealed to the PPP leader to spare this agony to his father at such a ripe age. Bains said that Manpreet Singh should listen to the voice of his esteemed father\'s conscience and pain to which he had given an open expression while talking to newsmen at Bathinda yesterday. Bains said that even he had been deeply hurt to read Gurdas SIngh Badal\'s statement that he was being compelled because of his old age and dependence on others to oppose his brother and to act as a covering candidate for Manpreet as a Congress candidate. The younger brother of the Chief Minister had said that he was pained because he had been fighting against the same Congress party all his life and would never have touched it even with a barge-pole had he not been forced to do so by his \"Aulad\" (progeny) . Bains was commenting on an interview published in Chandigarh-based English newspaper in which Mr. Gurdas SIngh Badal had claimed that he had said that he felt deeply hurt over being compelled to oppose his beloved brother at this age. and that he was forced to take the decision to support his son\'s move only because he had to depend on others for even his livelihood. \" (..
