Honey Singh showing love for kids by holding a baby of a fan who comes to meet him
Gurdaspur, April 21: The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President, Partap Singh Bajwa, today lambasted the Akali Dal manifesto released by the party President, Sukhbir Singh Badal, as self-contradictory, misleading, repetitive and yet another attempt to befool the people while raking up the old issues about which this party had never been serious. He said the manifesto was self-contradictory as talked of preserving and promoting the interests of all minorities in the country while at the same time, its main agenda was making Narendra Modi the Prime Minister, a person who himself as his party symbolised cultural unification of this country characterised by cultural diversity. Moreover, Modi had not even owned moral responsibility of the 2002 Gujarat riots under his government, what to talk of extending apology for the same. He called upon Badal to explain this duality. He reminded him the Congress President, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh had apologised for the November, 1984 riots. He said Badal wanted to continuously exploit this issue by keeping it alive. He said the Akali Dal perhaps believed that the people’s memory was very short when it talked of setting up of a commission under a Supreme Court judge to inquire into and expose those who hatched the conspiracy behind the massacre. “ Sukhbir Singh Badal has conveniently forgotten that his party, under the presidency of Parkash Singh Badal, had made a similar promise in its manifesto for the 1997 Assembly elections. Within months of coming into power, Badal, as the Chief Minister, backtracked with a few months on the logic that it would re-open the old wounds. It is a matter of record. Sukhbir Badal should explain as to why is he befooling the people on this sensitive issue once again, just like his fatherâ€, he said. Bajwa said the Akali Dal, in the same vein, had raked up the issues like transfer of Chandigarh, river waters issue and the federal structure which had been part of the Akali manifestos for years. He asked what the party had done on these issues when it was part of the NDA government at the centre. “Please stop misleading the people time and again as they have seen through your game. You did not write even one formal letter to the Atal Behari Vajpayee government in which you were the part on these issuesâ€, he said. The PPCC chief said the Akali Dal manifesto had once again raked up the issue of industrial concessions to Punjab on the pattern of the neighbouring states. “ Sukhbir Singh Badal must first admit before the people that these concessions were given by the NDA government in which the Akali Dal was a partner and the Akali ministers at that time did not raise any objection. He should also tell the people that he was the Union Minister of State for Industries at that timeâ€, he added. He lambasted the Akali Dal President for promising a transparent government as he himself was the Deputy Chief Minister with his father heading the government. He said it was strange that the Badal government had failed to take any step on this issue despite being in power for the last seven years. He said corruption had only multiplied under this government and there was open loot of natural resources like sand and gravel. What transparency was he talking about He similarly the development front, the hollow claims of hyperbolic development being made by Sukhbir Badal had been exposed During this election pictures had appeared from every nook and corner of the state about the pathetic condition of the roads. The Deputy Chief Minister had to himself admit this and he promised to do something within the next two years. He had now no right to talk of development in this background. He said the manifesto talked of new initiatives on the agriculture. He asked Sukhbir Badal as to what happened to the Rs. 100 cr plan for second push to agriculture presented by then finance minister Capt. Kanwaljit Singh with his 1998 budget. Referring to the government promise about providing health care to cancer patients, he alleged the government had bright in private players as evident from the super speciality hospital opened at Bathinda which was out of the reach of the common man. Would the state government promise that such facilities would be created in the public sector, while reminding the Badal government that the centre had already sanctioned two such centres for Punjab on the pattern of AIIMS, New Delhi. He said last but not the least, the manifesto has promised to promote trade with Pakistan and the Central Asian countries through Pakistan. Would this be possible with the jingoistic rhetoric being resorted to by Modi against the neighnours, he asked. S. Partap Singh Bajwa was accompanied by S .Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa MLA Fatehgarh Churian. S. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa accused the SAD-BJP regime as the most corrupt government. Tript said that there is no law and order in Punjab and SAD-BJP goons are free to rome anywhere. He said that in his constituency there were number of false cases registered against congress workers and there were no funds being given the congress sarpanches for development. He appealed the people of his constituency to support S. Partap Singh Bajwa for better and prosperous future of this constituency. S. Bajwa toured in villages Baju Mann, Vilha, Bandesha, Karwalian. Mallu Duara and Dyalgarh. Other who accompanied Satnam Singh Nambardar, Balwinder Singh Lamberdar, Harpreet Singh Baju Mann, , Roshan Joseph, Narinder Pal Singh, Sukhdev Singh Badowal, Balwinder Singh Jhanjian, Gurmej Singh Khullar, Balkar Singh Khullar, Saudagar Masih Dogar, Pritam Sarpanch Badowal, Jaspal Masih Badowal, Balwinder Singh Kotlamal, Balwinder Singh Ladi Jhande, Unkar Singh Lati, Sukhpal Bhoma, Tarpal Singh Narowal, Balkar Singh Lodhinangal, Rakesh Kumar Lucky, Balwinder Singh Jhalowali, Lali Manjiawal, Nishan Lalenangal, Kulwant Jhunjian, Jasmir Singh Badowal, Jeevan Jot Villa, Davinder Pal, Karnail Singh, Prabhjot Singh, Jaswant Singh Khaira and Ramanjit Kahlo.
