Dera followers attack TV Channel crew in Sirsa, snatch vehicle

Chandigarh, August 27, 2017: Unruly Dera followers on Sunday attacked the crew of TV Channel News18 and escaped after snatching their vehicle in Sirsa.
The TV crew covering the post verdict situation in Sirsa, the headquarter of Dera Sacha Sauda included reporter Dharamvir, cameraman Sunil and driver.
They were chased by unruly Dera followers and assaulted in the presence of Haryana police which watched the entire incident as a mute spectator.
It was the Army personnel deployed there who came to the rescue of the media team. The vehicle was later recovered.
The incident indicates the situation was far from normal in Sirsa. The Army has cordoned off the Dera headquarter but not entered it as yet, said reports.
Several followers inside Dera have since left for their homes. The water, electricity supply to it has been cut. Some relaxation was given in the morning in the curfew but security was tightened again.
Notably, Punjab and Haryana High Court had on Saturday ordered to get the Dera premises vacated.
