Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa on Tuesday urged the Centre to provide an additional Rs 200 per quintal to the farmers to discourage them from stubble burning.
Bajwa raised the issue in the Parliament and appealed the government to spend Rs 11,000 crore in the interest of environment and public health.
He highlighted how smog was becoming a cause of serious health problems for the children and elderly people.
He also brought in notice of the House that Niti Ayog has estimated total cost of Rs 11000 crore to compensate farmers of Punjab,Haryana and western UP to stop them from stubble burning.
