Fatehgarh Sahib, March 25,2019: Though SAD(B) has not officially declared its candidate for Fatehgarh Sahib (R) Parliamentry constituency, but highly placed sources told that the party has decided to field IAS Darbara Singh Guru former Principal Secreatray to CM as SAD(B) BJP candidate and the announcement in this regard may be made at any time. At present Darbara Singh Guru is halka incharge of SAD(B) from Bassi Pathana Assembly constituency, which is part of the Parliamentary constituency. The Akali leaders and workers have started celebrations and exchanged greetings and distributed sweets.
While talking to Babushahi.Com DS Guru accepted the congratulations and said let it be officially announced and said he is ready to accept any duty assigned to him by the party.
DS Guru was born at village Khudi Khurd in district Barnala in 1952 and he did his primary education from village school. He graduated from Govt. college of Science Education & Research Jagraon and post graduated in MSc Physic from Punjabi University Patiala. He joined premier Service IAS in 1980 and retired in 2011. He worked on various important posts like SDM, Deputy Commissioner Bhatinda, Director Public Relation, Secretary Public Relation, Principal Secretary Health, Director Industries and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal from 2007 to 2011.
Guru told that after retirement from service on the advice of Parkash Singh Badal he joined SAD(B) and contested his first election from Bhadaur Assembly constituency unsuccessfully. In 2017 Assembly elections, he was allotted SAD(B) ticket from Bassi Pathana ® constituency and he lost to Gurpreet Singh GP of Congress. Now he has been choosen as SAD(B) candidate for Fatehgarh Sahib ® Parliamentary constituency.
Interestingly he is likely to face either (Retired) IAS Dr. Amar Singh former Chief Secretary of MP cadre who is also his batchmate, or Gurpreet Singh GP MLA Bassi Pathana, who defeated him in Assembly from Bassi Pathana, Manmohan Singh (Retd) Chief Engineer , Dr. Deepak Jyoti IAS aspirant and Rai Amanpreet Kaur who are front runners for Congress ticket.
