Chandigarh, March 28, 2019: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is paying special attention to facilitate the M-Voters in exercising their right to franchise.
Disclosing this here today, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, Dr. S. Karuna Raju said that the M-Voters are those voters who are residents of J&K as per the certificate issued by the Commissioner of J&K but are residing in any other city in India. They get the choice of voting either by postal ballot or by visiting special polling booths set up at Delhi, Udhampur and Jammu.
Divulging more details, the CEO said that the voters registered in the 3 Parliamentary Constituencies of J&K are eligible to become M-Voters. The M-Voters would download form M or form 12-C if required from the ECI or NVSP website. The applicant has to fill either form 12 C or form M. The CEO further added that the applicant after filling in detail form M or form 12 C would visit nearby Election Registration Officers (ERO) along with filled form (either form M or form 12 C), Current residence proof and migration certificate issued by the Residential Commissioner of J&K.
Elaborating more, the CEO said that the ERO would verify all the details before submitting the application on mvoter.eronet.ecinet.in. The portal on submission would alert the concerned Assistant Registration Officer (ARO) in J&K about the applicant's application for either requesting him to permit the applicant to vote at some other location or send the postal ballot as per form 12-C.
