DC Ferozepur appreciates initiative of Principal to honour students whose all family members will cast vote
Ferozepur April 10, 2019: Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur Chander Gaind appreciated the initiative of border village Principal to honour students whose all family members will cast vote in the LS Polls to be held on May 19.
With the new initiative to encourage people to vote to ensure hundred percent participation in the election manifesto of democracy, the Principal, Dr.Satinder Singh of border village Gatti Rajo Ke Government Sr. Sec. School has launched an exclusive progrmme to increase the poll percentage, instead of the usual advertisements or campaigns. The school will honour those students whose all family members will vote in the coming Lok Sabha elections to be held on May 19 in this part of the country.
Deputy Commissioner, Chander Gaind appreciated the initiative of Dr.Satinder Singh to honour the students as a part of the awareness programme to increase the voting percentage. This is indeed a unique idea to encourage people to vote in the upcoming elections.
Under the SVEEP – Systematic Voters Education and Electoral - programme, efforts at all levels are being made to create awareness among the people by the district administration and it has been decided to honour the students whose all family members will cast their votes, said Dr.Satinder Singh, the brainchild behind this move.
He said the students can play a vital role in creating awareness to those people who don’t participate in the election due to lack of knowledge. The decision to honour the students has been taken in consultation with the officials of the department.
Gatti Rajo Ke government school is situated just near the Indo-Pak and there are certain students who come to school by crossing the Satluj River in the boat daily and I hope this initiative by the school will a long way for the maximum participation in the election, said Dr.Satinder Singh.
