Punjab AAP to send 5-year party report card
Moga, Apr 11 :: The state unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to provide its five-year report card to people, appealing them to vote, support and strengthen the party, AAP state campaign committee chief Aman Arora announced on Thursday.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Arora said that about 1,000 volunteers would carry forward the party's report card, along with a letter written by party's state chief Bhagwant Mann, demanding the Amarinder Singh government to tell people, what happened to the tall promises it had made, during the elections.
According to Mr Arora, Mr Mann asked if the government had given jobs and smart phones to the youth,
loan waiver to the distressed farmers and Rs 3,000 pension to the aged people, among others.
Did the menace of drugs eating out the vitals of the state had ended, which Captain Amarinder Singh had promised to eliminate, before elections, Mr Mann asked, urging the people to give a befitting answer to the Congress by showing them the door in the coming elections.
Striking an emotional chord with the people, the Sangrur MP said, ''I had left the lucrative profession of an artiste, earning lakhs of rupees, with a sole objective to serve you.
''As we all are aware, December 27 was the martyrdom of younger Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh. On my insistence, Parliament for the first time post-Independence, paid glowing tributes to the great martyrs. It was indeed a soul-satisfying experience for me, as I could do my little bit for my community,'' he added.
Mr Mann also said that he had supported a number of Indians, who had been trapped in foreign countries and brought them back safely.
Talking about the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission report, Mr Arora said AAP will pressurise the government to implement the report in Punjab, thus saving the distressed farmers from the debt trap.(Agency)
