Kolkata, April 22, 2019 (UNI) On the eve of 3rd phase poll, the Election Commission in a notification on Monday directed the state authorities to transfer seven police officers, from the rank of SDPO to Assistant Sub-Inspector with immediate effect and barred the from any election related duty.
Four Lok Sabha seats - Balurghat in South Dinajpur, Malda Uttar and Malda Dakshin, Murshidabad and Jangipur - will go to the poll for 3rd phase voting on Tuesday where the police officials were posted before the latest poll body notification on transfer.
The removed police officials are Raghunathgaj IC (Murshidabad) Saikat Roy, Farakka IC Uday Shankar Ghosh, Samsherganj (Murshidabad) Bidhan Haldar, West Burdwan's Barabonbi police station chief Ajay Mondal, chief of Andal police station Raj Shekhar Mukherjee, North 24 Parganas Bijpur IC Krishendu Ghosh and Bankura SDPO Sokomol Kanti Das.
Malda SP Arnab Ghosh has been removed two days back and Ajay Prasad has taken charge of the police super of the district.
The poll body announced that some 350 companies of central para-military forces - 120 to be in Murshidabad, 89 companies at Malda and 41 companies to South Dinajpur, meant 92 per cent booths to be covered by the central forces.
