Fatehgarh Sahib, May 18, 2019: All the arrangements are up to the mark for the polling regarding Lok Sabha Elections-2019 which is scheduled on May 19. Polling staff, which consists of around 12 thousand members, is deputed at all the polling booths established in all the 09 assembly constituencies falling in the Fatehgarh Sahib-08 Lok Sabha constituency. All the polling parties have been arrived at all the 1750 polling booths of the parliamentary constituency. This was stated by District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib, Dr. Prashant Kumar Goyal here at District Administrative Complex while giving the details about the arrangements made for the Lok Sabha elections.
Dr. Prashant Kumar Goyal said that there are total 20 candidates, 14 lakh 97 thousand 451 voters and 5410 service voters in the Lok Sabha Constituency. He said that there are 01 lakh 47 thousand 833 voters and 178 polling booths in Bassi Pathana assembly constituency, 01 lakh 55 thousand 166 voters and 196 polling booths in Fatehgarh Sahib assembly constituency, 01 lakh 39 thousand 485 voters and 159 polling booths in Amloh assembly constituency, 01 lakh 64 thousand 20 voters and 182 booths in Khanna assembly constituency, 01 lakh 71 thousand 83 voters and 209 booths in Samrala assembly constituency, 02 Lakh 43 thousand 05 voters and 265 polling booths in Sahnewal assembly constituency, 01 Lakh 62 thousand 859 voters and 197 polling booths in Payal assembly constituency, 01 Lakh 53 thousand 528 voters and 172 polling booths in Raikot assembly constituency and 01 lakh 60 thousand 472 voters and 192 polling booths in Amargarh assembly constituency.
He disclosed that the votes of Bassi Pathana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Amloh and Amargarh constituency would be counted at Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. Counting of the votes of the Assembly constituency Khanna, Samrala, Payal, Sahnewal and Raikot would be counted at the counting center established at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana.
Dr. Goyal said that 09 'Sakhi' Polling booths have been established in the lok Sabha constituency where only the female voters would cast their votes and only the female staff was deputed including the staff deputed for security purpose. Besides this 56 model booths have been also established. Moreover, crech facility would also be provided for the younger children at various polling booths. Special facilities would be provided to Differently Abled Voters, which includes Wheelchair and Ramp facilities. Voluntaries are deputed for the help of voters at polling booths.
While giving details about the security arrangements SSP Smt. Amneet Kondal said that to conduct the election in free, fair and peaceful manner and to maintain law and order situation during the Lok Sabha elections police and paramilitary forces have been deployed at the polling booths and various other places.SSP said that special patrolling would continue till the completion of the election process. She said that instructions have been issued to the force to keep a close watch on the anti social elements and any compromise in the duty by the staff would not be tolerated. SSP appealed the voters to exercise their right to vote without any fear, pressure, lust, greed or influence. She said that if anyone tries to stop the voter from exercising the right to vote or tries to pressurize the voters then the concerned officials should be immediately informed and prompt action will be initiated. She said apart from this, if anyone gets information about any anti-social elements, it should also be shared with the police immediately.
