Existing bundh also repaired which damaged due to excess discharge of water from Pakistan
New ‘Ring Bundh’ arranged at Tendiwala village in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, August 26, 2019: The Drainage Department has constructed another ‘Ring Bun’ at Tendiwala village as preventive measure that damaged due to excess discharge of water from Pakistan, which will provide more strength and safe.
The existing embankment was getting eroded at a fast place, posing danger to the lives and property of the nearby villagers.
Chander Gaind, Deputy Commissioner informed that the Tendiwala bundh – made with stones, filled sand bags to stop flow of water - has gone weak due to fading out of soil because of high current in the water released from the Pakistan and after strengthening the existing bun, new Ring Bundh just near to the existing one, has been arranged with the help of army, local residents and NDRF. He said, with these arrangements, the old bun will be more strengthened and now the water will not in the village.
Sandeep Goel, Executive Engineer, Drainage Department said, the new ‘ring bun’ is 10’x4’ and 400 ft long and it quite high the existing bundh and this will not now allow any damage rater prove a boon to stop any kind of damage threat of flow of excessive water.
Appreciating the efforts of the Drainage Department, Chander Gaind, Deputy Commissioner - who himself is monitoring the entire flood relief operations day and night – said, the operation for new ‘ring bundh’ was started immediately on getting the information of eroding of existing bun, with the help of army villagers and NDRF team. The administration had proactively initiated repair and strengthening works after getting to know about the breach in the bundh.
The people of the border area will now have more security with the excessive water in Sutlej River, he added.
