Punjab Pollution Control Board signed MoU with IIT to carry out source apportionment study
Fatehgarh Sahib/Mandi Gobindgarh, September 04, 2019: Punjab Pollution Control Board has signed MOU with IIT, Delhi to carry out Source Apportionment Study of the air pollution sources and their role in the ambient air quality in nine cities which includes Mandi Gobindgarh, Khanna, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Naya Nangal, Dera Baba Nanak & Dera Bassi. This was disclosed by Anand Sagar Sharma, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Amloh at Conference Room, Municipal Council, Mandi Gobindgarh while presiding over the meeting of the team of expert members of IIT, Delhi and all the stakeholders Departments of the Action Plan for Clean Air, Mandi Gobindgarh.
SDM, Amloh said that all the departments must co-operate with IIT team and send their officers in the field to collect the authenticated data. So that the process regarding curbing the pollution in Mandi Gobingarh would be expedited and people would get pollution free environment. The team from IIT, Delhi briefed all the stakeholder members regarding collection of data from each department to carry out Source Apportionment Study on different air pollution sources. During this Vijay Kumar XEN PPCB, Mohit Singla and Gulshan Kumar SDO PPCB, Charanjit Singh EO Mandi Gobindgarh and various other officials were also present.
