Surrey, April 9, 2020: Canada has confirmed 1541 new cases and 46 deaths in the last 24 hours. With this the number of cases has reached 19,289 and 435 deaths since the pandemic hit the country. The number of patients who have recovered stand at 4548.
The highest number of cases are in the province of Quebec, where the number has risen to 10,031 and 175 have died, followed by Ontario with 5276 deaths and 174 deaths.
Similarly, Alberta has 1,423 confirmed cases and 29 deaths, 1336 affected cases and 48 deaths in BC, 271 in Saskatchewan, 221 in Manitoba, 232 in Newfoundland and 342 in Nova Scotia. 108 people are infected with the corona virus.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that the steps taken by the government to prevent the epidemic are yielding positive results, but all Canadians still have to adhere to the Public Health Authority's guidelines so that the spread can be controlled faster.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reports that 45 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in British Columbia, bringing the total number of patients affected by the pandemic to 1336. In the last 24 hours, the total number of deaths has risen to 48, with five more deaths due to Covid-19.
Sharing this information, the Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reports that 135 victims are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals, of which 61 are being treated in ICU.
He said that despite the increase in the ability to test in BC, the positive rate has been reduced which is a good sign. Dr. Henry also said that the test arrangements would be further enhanced soon. He appealed to the people of BC not to get out of the house unnecessarily in the coming Long Week.
