8 booked over dispute on banning entry on Covid-19 threat of outsiders in Punjab’s village
Ferozepur, April 11, 2020: In spite of the fact the Punjab government extended the curfew period up to May 1 to combat coronavirus, after finding that many people were ignoring the lockdown ordered by it and increase in a number of corona positive cases in the state.
In one incident of village Ahmad Dhandi near Lakho Ke Behram in Ferozepur District, there was a dispute over banning the entry of outsiders by the villagers in the event of a threat of coronavirus, as a self-precautionary measure.
Stating this Gurwinder Singh of Ahmad Dhandi on whose complaint, 8 persons have been booked, said, at the stop entry point, there was a dispute over a certain issue and, my son Satnam Singh was seriously injured and later on admitted in the hospital. The booked persons are Sukhraj Singh, Juj Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Gurpeet Singh, Kishore Singh, Paramjit Singh, Manohar Singh and Raj Singh, under Section 188, 148 and 149 IPC.
Meanwhile, the police on my complaint have registered a case against 8 persons of the village and further investigations are on by IO Gurdev Singh. However, no arrest has been made in this case so far.
He said, the idea to put up ban by the villagers is in our own interest and opposing it will invite the entry of outsiders without any medical tests, with serious consequences.
