With the loss of alliance of BJP-SAD in Punjab state, the elections in other states before the 2019 general elections, have become a big headache for the Modi government while it will also be challenging for the main contestant opposition party Congress.
The elections in two states are being held on November 9 in Himachal Pradesh and on December 9 and 14 in Gujarat – the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid allegations that the Election Commission was under pressure from the BJP – Bhartiya Janata Party to delay the dates so that the party could announce various welfare schemes for the state.
Congress has not won in Gujarat in the last more than three decades and I don’t think the main opposition party could stand this time too when at the Centre there is a BJP government led by Narendra Modi.
So far as the leadership of Rahul Gandhi is concerned, he is a weak leader for the Congress. The social media has made the mockery of his speeches which are meaningless despite his witticism against the ruling party.
No doubt, there had been a sops rain on Gujarat like Ro-Ro ferry to an 18 percent cut in GST on micro-irrigating systems to farmers but the BJP looks to be flustered as it was attacked by the number of directions.
Modi has to prove his identity in his home state at any cost otherwise GST is going to be a big issue in the hands of opposition parties.
The presence of youth leaders in Gujarat – Hardik, Jignesh, and Alpesh after their move, the eye is on the bank votes on various reserved votes.
Modi has so far proved his skill of speak and schemes only which has definitely upgraded his anti-incumbency factor. If the BJP returns in Gujarat elections with a lion’s victory then it will highway road to 2019 elections would be easy for Modi. The victory is likely to have an impact on voters of other states to reinforce the unshakeable and unbelievable image.
In fact, with the announcement of elections in Punjab, the check-mate game has started between the political leaders. It looks that the election is not between the two parties but a fight between two clever Chanakayas of political strategies. In such a scenario, it will not be an easy task for the Congress leaders despite the fact that it has improved its position with the entry of youth leaders but every step has to be taken very carefully in this political game which has its impact on various issues.
Frankly speaking, all these arrangements makes it crystal clear that Modi is actually fighting and preparing for 2019 elections and it will be a litmus test for him for the next elections.
