ON WOMEN EQUALITY DAY –ACKNOWLEDGE PIVOTAL ROLE OF WOMEN IN SOCIETY
Women’s Equality Day 26th August, a day to acknowledge the colossal achievements by women in different spheres around the globe, who have really proved what women, are capable of achieving if opportunity is given without considering the gender bias. Women Equality Day has a historic significance, with women officially allowed with right to vote by the US Constitution marking a turning point in the history of the struggle for equal treatment of women and women’s rights. The right to vote, the cornerstone of democracy, belongs to all citizens — but this wasn’t always the case, as most of countries denied voting rights to women. To claim their voice, women began agitating for the right to vote and during 19th Amendment, 1920, which ensured voting rights for everyone regardless of gender. Keeping in view the positive aspect that today, women equality has grown to mean much more than just sharing the right to the vote, as different organizations across the globe continue to work to provide equal opportunities to education and employment, pushing against suppression and violence towards women and against the discrimination which still occur in society.
Today women are top echelons in every sphere either its family or work they equally participate as men in serving the country and are also playing crucial role in the functioning and success in different fields i.e. education, health, politics, space exploration, defense, banking sector, media, judiciary, executives etc and above all today we do have female astronauts and Nation heads around the globe. We all must acknowledge Women’s Equality Day to pay tribute to the dedicated females who have made a massive difference in the lives of the weaker sex; rather on this day it’s an opportunity to promote the remarkable contribution of women towards society and honour their grit and determination, making strides in every sphere of life.
Today our nation needs to emphasize the importance of the Day i.e. Women Equality Day and must ensure that the future for women remains bright, equal, safe, rewarding and rather pledge to never undermine a woman and treat every woman with respect, promoting the cause of social equality and follow a determined slogan, that, Safety of Women to be a priority on this Women’s Equality Day.
