Punjab is leading the way on developing a suitable ecosystem and promoting entrepreneurial youth of Punjab through its favorable policies in setting up a business and ensuring a strong enabling ecosystem. But, this promotion of the startup culture can be accelerated by implementing some new policies for the startups.
It is predicted that Mohali will be the next startup hub in India after Bangalore and Gurgaon and even like in Karnataka, our Government should take initiatives and measures to pave the way for startups in their respective areas to give them a boost, says 45-year old entrepreneur KS Bhatia. He also added, the youth of Punjab will explore more if guided and supported properly like the government of Karnataka did for new startups in Bangalore. Our government should aim to create lakhs of jobs in the state itself based on technology and hardware startups with incubators in selected colleges across the state.
An IT university should also be set up where digital technology studies should be taught in a manner that would create enough skilled man-power and this would create a lot of jobs for the upcoming generations. In this way the unemployment problem can also be resolved. Along with this, entrepreneurship should be included as a subject/chapter in schools & colleges of Punjab, igniting the seed of entrepreneurship at an early stage.
Punjab should become the epicenter of world’s agricultural research & entrepreneurial growth story. Government should support the startups with innovative ideas for waste management, solar energy, water management & mélange of related innovative technical startups by listening and helping them with their funding needs.
Significantly, the focus on “PLUG-IN SYSTEM” in every city of Punjab would act as an improvement on infrastructure which will meet the proper resources. This will help in shaping and implementing policies for supporting startups. The government should additionally offer 2% of the total budget that should be granted to the startups that will give boost to startup policies. Besides this there should be encouraging banks and financial institutions to extend lending to the startups on convenient terms.
Apart from this, Government of Punjab should honor the famous & prominent startups like Sachin & Binny Bansal of FLIPKART, Deepinder Goyal of ZOMATO, Bhavish Aggarwal of OLA CABS, Ritesh Malik of INNOV8 COWORKING , all born out of Punjab, so that they become Angel Investors and start funding the needy startups of Punjab, which will encourage the Punjab youth to step into the startup world. The entrepreneurs will show more dedication & creation when the startup culture in Punjab is promoted.
The blood of Punjab is famous for its smart-work mixed with aggression. The blood of Punjab Youth will show its colour aggressively if the government implements such policies for the promotion of startup culture in Punjab.
( Note : KS Bhatia, a Chandigarh-based entrepreneur and a born Punjabi, who attracted the attention of Google CEO Sundar Pichai by selling water pumps online. This chemical engineer and MBA with his innovative business ideas has emerged in the city as an idol for the young entrepreneurs and infused new life into the ecosystem. Now, he has come up with some suggestions to promote the startup culture in Punjab.)
