Once again the polluted, defiled, unclean and unholy intentions of Pakistan have come on surface with the recent attack on the Army posts, said to be first of its kind worst attack in nearly two decade, in Uri Sector of Kashmir, early morning, killing 18 Indian soldiers and 30 injured.
The terror attack on an Indian army camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri base has drawn condemnation from around the world, including Russia and the UN.
There is strong reaction from the Indian public also demanding strict action against the attackers and Government of India is having series of meetings at various levels to decide how to deal with the terrorists and their sponsor.
Whatever may be the identification of the terrorists but attack on the jawans with grenades while sleeping in their barracks is condemnable and not digestible by the Indian government and its citizens.
While every soldier’s family will be having a different story and background for joining the Army but it was more shocking to know when one of the victim’s father is blind living in Bihar.
Few days back, a similar attack was in Poonch on Army camp but there was no major loss. In January also, attack on Army air base at Pathankot in which seven jawans were killed, had also shaken the security in the border districts. In all these incidents, the attacks from Pakistan side have been established and the recent attack in Uri Sector is related to Line of Control (LoC) as it is very difficult to keep an eye on high mountains, forests and rivers about the entry of intruders and this is the reason, the Pakistani Army is successful of intruders’ attacks, by taking its advantage attack on Indian side.
Taking into consideration the natural and geographical conditions of the valley, it is not difficult to ascertain the attacks with the help of Pakistan army.
No doubt, the Indian government, taking serious note of the situation, has reacted with a strong message to Pakistan as hitherto but it looks as if it has no impact on Pakistan.
There is tense situation in Kashmir for the last 70 days and the entire system is stand-still due to curfew and violent scenes. Pakistan has a feeling of successful in its aims and targets by creating terrorism through the intruders on the Indian side as anti-India preparations were reported to be going on there.
At LoC, there is always a tense atmosphere and it is expected to keep a tight security but it is beyond understanding that as to how the four terrorists managed to attack with grenade, which too has put a big question mark on the security agencies.
After this attack, once again the issues have been raised to plan a concrete policy so far as security on the border is concerned.
A terror has also been floated terrifying people that there could be a nuclear war which will be damaging to India. Few days back, Pakistan has once again threatened India that in case of any army action, then it should ready to face the music of the nuclear weapons. But one should reject such bluffs because first of all the nuclear doctrine doesn’t approve use of such weapons at whims.
On the other hand, Prime Minister, Narendera Modi had been repeating from the international platforms that Pakistan is giving support to terrorism and steps should be taken to curb it.
Even during the last week, it was also stereotype statements from Modi that financial assistance sources to terrorists need to be plugged. But there seems to be no sign of any blow on Pakistan despite international pressure and is not seen to tighten the nose of the terrorists and using against India.
Even the US and Britain had strongly condemned the terrorist strik that killed 18 Indian soldiers at Uri in Kashmir and said they would work with India to fight terror.
However, the official reactions from both countries did not name Pakistan or Jaish-e-Mohammed, which has been blamed by India for the attack but the American experts agreed with the Indian assessment of the origin of the attack, if not the reasons for it.
Bollywood celebrities have also condemned the attack on Twitter – Shah Rukh Khan – Saddened to her the cowardly attack in Uri. Paryers for the familities of our martyred soldiers. And may the terrorists be punished soon.
Even China – another country sharing the international border with India – was shocked by the attack in Uri and concerned by the escalation of tensions in Kashmir as it goes ahead with a massive economic corridor plan that runs through PoK. It was a strongly condemned terrorism but is of the view that it wanted ‘dialogue’ between India and Pakistan.
There had been protests from the Opposition also condemning the increased terror attacks and accusing the Narendra Modi led NDA government for failing to ensure the safety of Indian soldiers and countrymen after coming to power.
On the other hand, the Pakistan has alleged that India was passing on the blame for the Uri attack on it to divert attention from the ongoing crisis in the State.
Frankly speaking, it is not understood as to why Home Minister Rajnath Singh is holding the review meetings instead of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. Is it not a war like situation? Who is responsible for the massacre of India soldiers despite intelligence input about such attack?
In fact, the responsibility of making any strategy for counter attack should be left to the Commanders at the ground level without any interference from politicians. It is an admitted fact that Pakistan cannot be treated through conventional diplomacy after the failure of peace making attempts and particularly after the Pathankot attack.
Merely giving statements condemning the attack and showing sympathy with the families of the soldiers, offering condolences, who sacrificed for the security of the country, would not suffice; in all these circumstances which India is facing for the last many years since its independence, there is a need to seriously think over this issue to take up very diplomatically and intelligently with an effective way to combat terrorism in the valley.
