Shiv Sena president held for provocative speech; booked among 36

Mohali, April 2, 2021:

Nishant Sharma, the national president of Shiv Sena (Hind), has been arrested by the Kharar police among his other companions today for hurting religious sentiments and for his provocative speech in a viral video clip.

According to the FIR, registered against 36 suspects including Nishant, in a viral video on social media, Nishant among others was seen making objectionable remarks on ‘Nihangs’ while addressing a press conference in Jalandhar on Thursday. The speech in his video was such that it hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community. His intentions were totally bad and his speech aimed at targeting ‘Nihangs’. In his speech, he demanded that the central government should impose ban on the 'shastras' (swords) of Nihangs, said the police.

A case has been registered against 36 suspects including Nishant Sharma, National chairman of youth wing Advocate Amit Ghai, National core committee chairman Ravi Sharma, National president of youth Ishant Sharma, and Punjab president Arvind Gautam on the complaint of SHO Daljit Singh Gill today under Sections 295-A, 124-A, 153-A, 298, 153-B, 505, 149 and 120-B of the IPC at the City Kharar police station.

Inspector Daljit Singh, SHO of city Kharar police station said, “We have arrested Nishant Sharma, a resident of Kharar and Arvind Gautam, a resident of Phase 6, Mohali. The other suspects will also be nabbed soon as the raids are being conducted by our teams. The arrested suspects will be produced before the court on Saturday. Further investigation is on.”
