Woman hangs self while on video call with son living abroad
Jalandhar, November 19, 2020: In a tragic incident, a woman who was reportedly suffering from depression hanged herself to death while on a video call with her son living aboard on Thursday. The incident occurred in Hardeep Nagar locality of Jalandhar.
The deceased has been identified as Tarsem Kaur. As per the statement for area-head Kulvinder Singh to police that Tarsem called her son Bhupender on phone informing the latter that she is going to committing suicide before taking the extreme step following which he immediately called his neighbors to stop his mother from committing suicide.
“Before we could reach her, it was already too late. She has left us,” said Kulvinder Singh.
Singh informed that deceased Tarsem Kaur’s two daughters and a son are married and settled abroad. Two years ago, her husband died since then she has been living in the house all alone. He further claimed that Tarsem was suffering from depression.
“Her husband Malkit Singh who was retired from Punjab police died on the same day after falling from the stairs. She hanged herself just near the stairs today,” he added.
Follow the incident, the police has initiated an inquiry on the matter and registered the case under Section 174 of CrPc.
