Father-son duo nabbed at Amritsar airport for carrying Guru Grant Sahib in suitcase, booked for sacrilege
Amritsar, November 19, 2020: The Amritsar police nabbed a father-son duo carrying two copies of the Sikh holy book Guru Granth Sahib in a suitcase at Shri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport, on Thursday. They were taken into custody for violating the ‘Sikh Rayat Maryada’ for not following the religious protocol of carrying the holy book Guru Granth Sahib.
They have been identified as Ujala Singh (father) and Jasvir Singh (son). It has been learned that the duo was carrying the holy books from Moga to Pune. After learning about the incident, a few religious groups and police reached the airport.
The police have now booked them for sacrilege and the case has been registered under Section 295 (destruction, damage, or defilement of a place of worship or an object held sacred) of IPC.
