A vindictive Delhi blackmailing Punjab farmers says Dal Khalsa
Chandigarh, November 21, 2020- Dal Khalsa has extended its full support to ‘Delhi Chalo’ call given by 30 farmer organizations to protest against contentious farm laws.Stating that farming is the backbone of Punjab and farmers are our honour, the leaders of the Sikh organization said the Punjab fully stands with them in their hour of crisis.
Party leaders H S Cheema and H S Dhami in a statement said the BJP government has adopted a vindictive approach towards the Punjab and rightful demands of the farmers. They said the Narendra Modi government was blackmailing the protesting farmers by stopping good trains to Punjab to pressurize them to clear rail tracks without conceding to their demands to repeal the laws. “Our activists will join the farmers to march towards Delhi on 26/27 to tell the Modi government that Punjab is united and its people are determined to take the farmers agitation towards its logical conclusion.”
On Centre withdrawing Z security cover from Akali leader Bikramjit Singh Majithia, they questioned the very basis on which he was provided such level of security cover. “There’s no threat to Majithia, hence providing him Z level security was a political decision to favour Akalis, who were till recently part of the BJP government,” said they. "It’s more of a status symbol than based on threat perception.”
Ninety percent of the politicians, Dera heads, even the SGPC president and Jathedars of Takhat enjoying security were given on lame excuses at the cost of public exchequer, said they and demanded that all such cases needed to be reviewed.
Dal Khalsa leaders took exception at the statement of Akal Takhat jathedar in which he advised the Akali Dal Badal to begin their journey from Punjab to Panth. “Akalis have betrayed the Panth time and again. Their compromised and corrupt politics have damaged the Sikh premier institutions. Once again, Akalis had used (read misused) the stamp of Jathedar Akal Takhat by manoeuvring Gaini Harpreet Singh to sing praises in their favour”, said both.
Taking a jibe at Jathedar, they said his speech at a function to mark 100 years of SGPC lacked vision, wisdom and decency.
