Govt. College of Yoga Education & Health celebrates 11th National Voter’s Day
Chandigarh, January 26, 2021: Govt. College of Yoga Education and Health, Sector 23 A. Chandigarh celebrated the 11th National Voter’s Day in the college on the theme “Making our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed”. The celebration was graced by Mrs. Madhavi Kataria I.A.S. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Punjab who was welcomed by the Principal of the College Dr. Sapna Nanda.
The programme commenced with the Sarswati Vandana and Mantra Chanting. The Principal while sharing the achievements and accomplishment of the Chief Guest emphasized that right to vote is the most vital privilege which should be exercised by the youth with utter responsibility. She highlighted the significance of the voters day and quoted that “it bestows the youth with the sense of empowerment, pride and inspires them to exercise their franchise”.
Thereafter Mr. Kulwant Singh, Booth level Officer and one of the Faculty members of the college recited a poem encouraging the audience to cast their vote judiciously. He also made the audience aware about various portals where the fresh voters can get themselves enrolled. This was followed by pledge taking ceremony which was conducted by Mr. Rahul Joshi.
Keeping in view the theme of this year’s voters day, various events and activities like Rangoli Making, Poster Making, Essay writing and Quiz contest were organized and prizes for the same were awarded by the Chief Guest. Mr. Sumant Batish, Master Booth Level Officer and one of the Faculty members of the College was awarded Certificate of Appreciation by the Sub Divisional Magistrate (South) on this prestigious occasion for his meritorious services.
The Chief Guest in her presidential address, sensitized the audience about the Power of Voting and motivated them to be the responsible citizens of the Country. She quoted that “Youth should get enrolled in political activity as our life is inextricably linked to the political process”. She appreciated the efforts of the college for conducting various events and recommended to conduct regular activities under Electoral Literacy Club.
The Coordinator of the programme was Mr. Sumant Batish. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Mohinder Kumar. The programme ended with the National Anthem and the celebration was attended by around 90 persons comprising students, staff and general public members.
