Jalandhar: DC Income Tax unveils maiden flower show at Virsa Vihar
Gives clarion call for sustained efforts to make Jalandhar clean, green, and pollution-free
Jalandhar, March 28, 2021, Deputy Commissioner Income Tax Ms. Gagan Kundra Thori today inaugurated the maiden flower show at the local Virsa Vihar.
The Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by Major General (Retd) Balwinder and Captain (Retd) Inderjeet Singh Dhami, said that this was a path-breaking initiative aimed at sprucing up activities at this socio-cultural hub of the district. She said that above all this flower show would bring the city residents more closely with nature.
Thori envisioned that this spirit would go a long way in making Jalandhar a clean, green, and pollution-free city.
Lauding the organizers for holding this mega event, the Deputy Commissioner said that it was the need of the hour to sensitize the people on the grave issue of environmental pollution and making them equal partners in the process of enhancing the green cover.
She said that though the state and center government were already making strenuous efforts in this regard public participation was a must for this noble cause.
Thori also asked the organizers to hold more such events so that it becomes a mass movement.
Meanwhile, Major General (Retd) Balwinder Singh and Captain (Retd) Inderjeet Singh Dhami Said that this endeavor of Virsa Vihar was aimed at spreading positivity in the present difficult environment and bring happiness.
They said that the flower show was organized with the motive to ensure that people were sensitized on the issue of global warming and enhancing green cover. They said that Virsa Vihar would organize more such events in the coming days for larger public participation.
They said that keeping in view the prevailing situation due to Covid 19, the gathering has been kept below 20. However, they said that from the ensuing year more and more participation of the general public would be ensured.
