Jalandhar: Administration all set to ensure smooth wheat procurement from April 10
SAYS, SLEW OF MEASURES TO BE TAKEN TO ENSURE PROCUREMENT IN A SEGREGATED MANNER
Jalandhar, April 4,2021: The District Administration is all set to ensure smooth and hassle-free procurement of wheat in the district in wake of the prevailing circumstances due to the epidemic of Corona Virus.
Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori reiterated the firm commitment of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to procure every single grain of the farmers.
He said that elaborate arrangements would be made to facilitate the farmers during the procurement of grains. He said that keeping in view the prevailing situation and to ensure procurement in a segregated manner number of designated mandis would be enhanced by designating new mandis in the district as it was done last year during wheat and paddy procurement.
He mentioned that for this purpose the storage points, vacant government lands and shallers would be utilized. The DC said that this would help in reducing rush of farmers in mandi on one hand and maintaining social distance during procurement on the other.
The Deputy Commissioner said that in order to facilitate the farmers for movement of grains the Mandi Board would be issuing special passes for procurement season starting from April 10.
He said that along with procurement of grains, checking the spread of the Corona Virus was also the top priority of the state government and the district administration. He assured the people that the golden grains of the food growers would be procured and lifted at every cost.
