Complete construction of 61 model playground within one week: Jalandhar DC asks BDPOs
Says, these projects would ensure holistic development of rural areas
Jalandhar, June 11, 2021: Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Friday directed all the Block Development and Panchyat Officers (BDPOs) to ensure timely completion of development projects being carried out in rural areas under various schemes so that the people of the district could benefit from these pro-people initiatives.
While reviewing the playground project, the DC accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development & General) Vishesh Sarangal, and Jasbir Singh, asked the officials to complete these projects within one week as any kind of delay would be dealt with strictly.
The deputy commissioner said that as many as 61 model playgrounds were to come up in all 11 blocks at an outlay of Rs. 463.91 lakhs adding about 44 playgrounds have been completed so far with an expenditure of Rs. 349 lakhs.
These model playgrounds include five each in Adampur, Jalandhar west, Lohian, Mehatpur, Nurmahal, Phillaur, Rurkan Kalan, and Shahkot, nine in Bhogpur, Six each in Jalandhar east and Nakodar development blocks.
Similarly, the DC also reviewed the progress made in school projects started under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MG-NREGA) and convergence. He stated that a total of 664 school projects has to be initiated in the district by incurring Rs. 1000.78 lakhs out of which as many as 553 works have been started by the authorities and a sum of Rs. 402.39 lakhs has been spent.
Thori has directed all field officers to start the remaining projects besides ensuring above 50 percent completion within next week.
The Deputy Commissioner also asked the officers/ officials to accord top priority to the works of public welfare so that benefits of the pro-people and development-oriented policies of the state government were percolated to the people at the grass root level.
He said that for this the officers/ officials should dedicatedly work to make sure that the underprivileged and weaker stratum of society avails the benefits of state government’s policies. Batting for optimum utilization of funds under the government schemes, he said that it would ensure that money was spent in the right direction.
