Mohali: CIA nabs 3 motorcycle thefts, recovers 6 stolen bikes

Mohali, June 15, 2021:
The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Mohali police arrested three motorcycle thefts and recovered six stolen motorcycles from their possession.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Sukhvir Singh alias Sukha, Ramanpreet Singh, both residents of Bahadargarh in Patiala and Balwinder Singh alias Rinkle, a resident of Kawanwali village in Fazilka.
Mohali SSP Satinder Singh informed that on June 9, a team of CIA led by SI Harjinder Singh got a tip-off that a gang of vehicle thefts was planning to steal motorcycles. Acting on the tip-off, the police laid a blockade near Bawa White House in Phase 11 to conduct checking of vehicles. In the meantime, Sukha and Ramanpreet, coming from Chandigarh side on a Bullet, were intercepted by the cops. On checking the documents, the police found that the bike they were riding was a stolen bike and an FIR was already registered in that regard. The duo was nabbed by the cops.
After two days, their accomplice, Balwinder was also arrested by the police. The police recovered six stolen bikes ( four Bullets, a CD Deluxe and a Splendor) following their arrests and two stolen bikes are yet to be recovered, said the SSP.
During the interrogation, the suspects confessed before the police that they are addicts of heroin. They used to steal the motorcycle with the help of their accomplices from the areas of Chandigarh and Mohali. A case of NDPS Act was already registered against Sukha in Patiala, said the SSP.
A case was registered against the trio under Sections 379, 411 and 473 of the IPC at the Phase 11 police station.
