Chandigarh Pradesh Mahila Congress stages protest outside MC office against soaring prices of vegetables
Chandigarh, July 13, 2021:
In the series of protest starting from 7th July to 17th July, Chandigarh Pradesh Mahila Congress (CPMC) on Tuesday held a protest against soaring prices of vegetables outside the Municipal Corporation office in Sector 17 here.
CPMC President Deipa Dubey said that these protest are being held moved by the plight of the people already suffering on account of the COVID pandemic. “The whole nation is suffering from rampant unemployment and salary cuts, so we have has decided to launch agitation programs in every Block & District,” she added.
Deipa Dubey further questioned the Modi government as to why the rising inflation was affecting the pockets of a common man.
Shouting slogans against the Union government, they also lamented the fact that prices of other vegetables including, capsicum, potatoes and chillies have also risen without any reason.
Deepa Dubey said that despite the vegetable market was set up outside the Municipal Corporation however not a single customer came to buy vegetables. She said now people have to feed themselves on boiled daal and rice. She also said no one was ready to buy these vegetables at these prices - Peas- Rs 150, Chili -Rs 60, Bottle guard Rs 100, lady's finger Rs 100 etc.
Deipa Dubey also demanded to roll back License Fee from vendors. She said it is hard to feel and realize the paid of the vendors on whom the Administration have ordered to pay license fee else their license will be cancelled.
Through this protest, every worker of Chandigarh Mahila Congress appealed to Prime Minister Modi to roll back the prices of petrol and diesel and also fix lower rates for mustard oil, vegetables, food items, gas cylinders as soon as possible so that the general public does not die of hunger.
All the office bearers including Saroj Sharma, Prakash Kaur, Mamta Rana, Jyoti Hans, Sneha Singh, Jasmine, Nidhi, Preeti, and others were present.
