Ludhiana: Customs Commissionerate celebrate “Khadi Day”
Ludhiana, October 11, 2021:: As part of ongoing ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to commemorate India’s 75th year of Independence, Customs Commissionerate, Sahnewal celebrated Khadi Day to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution to promote Khadi and Gramodyog products among people.
In this regard, Khadi and Gramodyog Exhibition was organized in the Custom House premises to encourage Khadi and Gramodyog for strengthening self-reliance and development of rural India which was the dream of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
Officers and staff paid tributes at Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait by offering flowers. Commissioner Vrindaba Gohil, motivated officers and staff to use Khadi and Gramodyog products which are a symbol of self respect and self-sufficiency. Officers, staff and visitors were excited to buy khadi items.
On this occasion, an Inter-School Painting competition on the theme “Freedom Struggle” was also organized in which students from Government Senior Secondary Smart School (Girls and Boys), Sahnewal, Umaidpur Tibba, Pawa and Dharour participated.
Damanpreet Kaur and Shital Kumari of Government Senior Secondary Smart School (Girls) got first and second prize respectively while Rahul of (Boys), school Sahnewal got Third Prize in this competition.
Commissioner Vrindaba Gohil distributed trophies and prizes to the winners. Swachhta Kits containing Khadi and Gramodyog products were also distributed among the participants to create awareness about Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of Swachhta, Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Khadi.
