Chandigarh administration organizes Mega Camp for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) & Senior Citizens
Chandigarh, November 17, 2021: The Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration has organized a Mega Camp for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and Senior Citizens from 10th – 17th November, 2021 in association with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) and other departments of Chandigarh Administration at Aasha Kiran, Sector 46 here.
During this Mega Camp, registration to various services like UDID Card, e-Shram Card, Voter ID Card along with application for welfare schemes for persons with disabilities and senior citizens were available.
For first three days (i.e. 10th-12th November, 2021), the assessment camp was organized in association with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), in order to assess Divyangjans (Persons with Disabilities) and Senior Citizens for free distribution of Aids and Appliances including artificial limbs, motorized tricycles, wheelchairs, smart canes, smart phones, daisy players, Braille kits etc. for Divyangjans and Denture, spectacles and stick for Senior Citizens. During these three days, 360 persons (Divyangjans and Senior Citizens) were registered and assessed by a team of experts from Govt. of India, New Delhi. Out of total assessed registrations, 223 were found eligible as per Government norms and will be allocated assistive aids and appliances as per their disability and requirements.
During the Mega Camp, 944 people were registered for different services in total. The allocated aids and appliances will be distributed to identified Divyangjans and Senior Citizens in the month of January, 2022. The Mega Camp was organised in accordance with the SOP/Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India amid Covid19 pandemic.
