Meeting of technical sub-committee on groundwater balance study held in Mohali

The third meeting of the Technical Sub Committee on Ground Water Balance Study was held under Chairman Er Mehndiratta at Water Resources Bhawan, Sector 68 here on Wednesday. As per Dr Jaspal Singh, Member Secretary of Committee, the meeting was to discuss modalities and data furnishing of member departments for preparation of Ground Water Balance of Punjab State. Scientists from Central Ground Water Board, officers from the Department of Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare Punjab, Ground Water Management Circle, Irrigation-Canal department, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Indian Meteorological Department Punjab Water Resources Management Development Corporation & Rural Development & Panchayat participated in the meeting to discuss the data furnishing activity by member department. All departments have been directed to supply data in prescribed data sheets by 31st May 2022. The balance study report is likely to be completed by 30th September 2022. It would incorporate various recharge factors, groundwater usage by different sectors and availability of water for future needs of all 23 districts- 150 blocks of Punjab State said Jaspal Singh, Member Secretary.
